The British Suzuki Institute announced that they have confirmation of their booking at the Royal Albert Hall for the next British Suzuki Gala Concert on Easter Sunday 12 April 2020. Suzuki students in mid-Book 2 and over for Flute, Piano, Recorder, Viola, Violin and Violoncello from all over Europe and beyond will be invited to apply.
This event follows on from the first Gala Concert to be performed in the Royal Albert Hall in 2015 where 1,300 young Suzuki musicians came together to perform to an audience of over 5,000. Teachers and young musicians came from Australia, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Faroe Isles, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, UK, USA and Zimbabwe. It was a mighty and impressive turn-out. Although the children spoke over 22 different languages, many of them spoke no English at all. The significance of Dr Suzuki's common repertoire was wonderfully manifest music was the common tongue. The power of the Suzuki philosophy was evident. No words were needed for the concert or the rehearsals. The music spoke for itself.
